Google Business Profile Optimization for Local Businesses

Your profile is the page Google shows before your website. For most local buyers it is the only page they read. We build it around the jobs you want, then prove it is producing calls rather than asking you to take our word for it.

Free 30 minute call. We audit your profile before we get on it. No obligation.

Why Profiles Fail

Most Businesses Claim the Profile and Think the Job Is Done

Claiming your listing is step one of about fifteen. An incomplete profile does not just underperform, it actively keeps you out of the map pack while a competitor with a worse business takes the call. Here is what we find on almost every profile we audit.

  • The wrong primary category. This one field does more to decide what you rank for than anything else on the profile, and it is usually set to whatever was picked in a hurry years ago
  • No services listed, or services with no descriptions. Google cannot match you to a search for a job you never told it you do
  • No review strategy. Reviews are both a ranking signal and the deciding factor once you are visible. Most businesses ask for them randomly or not at all
  • Inconsistent name, address and phone across the web. Google gets less confident about your business and quietly ranks you lower
  • Photos uploaded once at setup. Profiles that stay active outperform profiles that sit still
  • Nobody reads the insights. The data showing which searches found you is sitting there unused
Why It Matters More Than Your Website

The Profile Is Where the Decision Happens

A local buyer searches, sees three businesses on a map, taps one, and reads. Reviews, photos, hours, services, questions other people asked. Many of them call directly from that screen and never visit a website at all. That makes your profile the most important sales page you own, and the one you probably spend the least time on.

It decides if you are seen

Categories, services and location relevance are what put you in the three pack in the first place.

It decides if you are trusted

Review count, review recency and how you reply are read carefully by people about to spend real money.

It decides if you are called

Photos of real work, clear services and a complete profile remove the reasons to keep scrolling.

What It Costs

Google Business Profile Optimization Cost, Explained Honestly

A brand new profile that needs setup, verification and full optimization is a different job from an existing profile that needs strategic improvement. So rather than quote one number for everyone, here is exactly what moves it.

What changes the price

  • Profile complexity and the current state of your listing
  • How many service areas or locations need optimizing
  • Competitive density of your market and industry
  • How much ongoing management and posting you need
  • Whether citation building and review management are included

How we price it

Profile work is delivered inside a monthly plan rather than sold as a one off, because that is what actually holds rankings.

  • Plans start at 299 dollars a month
  • No setup fees
  • No long term contract
  • Full refund if we do not deliver the plan inside 30 days
See the plans →

One honest warning. Most businesses get the biggest return from ongoing management rather than a single optimization, because Google rewards profiles that stay active. If someone sells you a one time fix and walks away, expect the jump to fade.

Proof

What Good GBP Work Looks Like Afterwards

A marketing agency came to us with a profile that was not ranking. We ran three months of structural optimization on it. Categories, services, review handling and citation consistency.

The engagement ended. Six months later the profile was still sitting at positions #2 to #3 on Google Maps with zero ongoing optimization from anyone.

That is the point worth understanding about profile work done properly. The structural part holds. The activity part is what keeps extending it.

Who This Is For

Best and Worst Fit

Worth doing if

  • You serve customers in a defined area
  • Your jobs are worth enough that one extra call pays for the month
  • You are eligible for a Google Business Profile
  • You can supply job photos occasionally
  • You are competing with businesses that rank above you

Not worth doing if

  • You sell nationally with no local service area
  • You are not eligible for a profile
  • You have no capacity to take more calls
  • You want a one time fix and no ongoing activity
We will say so on the call rather than take the money
Questions

Google Business Profile Questions, Answered Straight

How much does Google Business Profile optimization cost?

Profile work is delivered inside a monthly plan starting at 299 dollars a month, with no setup fees and no long term contract. What you pay depends on the current state of the profile, how many service areas or locations are involved, how competitive your market is, and whether citations and review management are included.

Is Google Business Profile the same as Google My Business?

Yes. Google renamed Google My Business to Google Business Profile. Plenty of agencies and business owners still say GMB, and both refer to the same listing. If someone is selling you GMB optimization in 2026 they mean this.

Do I keep ownership of my profile?

Always. We take manager access, never ownership, and you can remove our access at any time. If an agency asks you to transfer ownership of your Google Business Profile to them, that is a reason to walk away.

How long before my profile starts ranking better?

Profile changes can move within the first 30 days because you are editing a live listing rather than waiting on a site to be recrawled. Holding a map pack position across a service area usually takes 60 to 90 days. Nobody can promise a position, because proximity to the searcher is part of the score.

Is a one time optimization enough?

It produces a jump and then a plateau. Google rewards profiles that stay active, so posts, photos, review flow and question answers keep the gains extending. If your budget only allows one round, do the structural work first, because that part holds longest.

Do Google Posts actually matter?

They are not a large ranking factor on their own, but they keep the profile active and they give someone about to call a current reason to. Businesses that post consistently generally hold positions better than identical businesses that do not.

What if my profile has been suspended?

Suspension needs to be handled before any optimization is worth doing. Common causes are address issues, category violations and multiple listings for one business. Bring it up on the call and we will tell you honestly whether it is fixable and roughly how long reinstatement takes.

Can you optimize a profile for a business with no shopfront?

Yes. That is a service area business. You hide the street address and define the areas you cover instead. It changes the strategy, because proximity works against you, so relevance and prominence signals have to carry more of the weight.
